The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is an international body that works to develop standards for the World Wide Web. Headed by Tim Berners-Lee, the original creator of the URL, HTTP, and HTML specifications, the consortium's mission is "To lead the World Wide Web to its full potential by developing protocols and guidelines that ensure long-term growth for the Web."
